JOURNEY
From early on, I had a competitive drive that always made me want to be the best of the best. I was on almost every sports team, found myself competing with classmates about grades, and always tried to one-up my sister. Despite being successful, I always felt like an underdog and constantly compared myself to others. No matter how hard I worked, I still felt like I could do more and be better. While in general, this isn’t a bad trait to have, in this context it was detrimental to my self-esteem and left me feeling exhausted.
This continued into my late teens, and as with societal pressures at the time, I had originally started my fitness journey wanting to lose weight thinking I needed to. I would screenshot every new workout I found online and tried every new healthy recipe I could get my hands on, but found myself falling short every single time. I was uneducated, lacked discipline, and felt lost.
Then, the Summer of 2017 came around, and I was feeling as though I had hit rock bottom. I was tired of feeling frustrated and seeing my efforts leading me nowhere. I finally asked for help. My dad has been into fitness the majority of his life and had been a competitive bodybuilder in the 80s, so I asked him to take me to the gym with him every morning to show me what to do. I did just that, and through it found my confidence in the gym. I eventually started going on my own, which was a great first step, but I had no structure, was paying little attention to what I was eating, and partied every weekend. I was still missing the big picture.
In May 2018 I started managing a gym, and that is when my mindset really started shifting. I saw regulars every day smashing their goals, overheard inspiring conversations, talked with coaches who worked there, and started doing my own research. My passion for health and fitness had officially sparked.
I started planning my workouts, tracking my nutrition, and ultimately decided to make a lifestyle change. This process helped me switch the above-mentioned trait into a positive as now I know the only person I am in competition with is myself. It also made me realize I wanted to be a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach.
Fast forward to the present - I’m doing just that and can’t see myself doing anything else! My mission is to help as many people as possible who have struggled just like me and cut out all the trial and error I had to face. I want to help people get in the driver’s seat of their health by building sustainable habits that turn into life-long lifestyle changes for the better. I want to help you be the best version of yourself.
EXPERIENCE
I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach, and Health Mindset Coach.
Along with my exceptional interpersonal skills and post secondary education in business and psychology, my certifications enable me to effectively coach clients and help drive them to behaviour change.
My years of experience working with clients and facing personal hurdles has provided me with the necessary tools to get my clients to see results that last.
Mindset is often overlooked when trying to make a change, but it is actually where you must start.
